News flash: Shane Delia is ditching the Melbourne black (okay, not entirely). In an exciting announcement for the longtime KDPO friend and collaborator – and for Brisbane – the Victorian superchef has just opened his first restaurant in the Queensland capital.
Brisbane’s undergoing a restaurant boom and Shane promises to lead the pack with Layla, where his exotically aromatic, well-travelled Middle Eastern and subcontinental menu dives deep into Queensland’s amazing produce.
The location is equally attention grabbing. Layla is tucked inside a heritage-listed section of the Thomas Dixon Centre, home of Queensland Ballet in Brissie’s happening West End, and promises to harness all of that ambient creativity. The moody fit-out marries raw brick with blue velvet and terrazzo flooring, while the adjoining courtyard lets diners catch the sun.
KDPO was engaged by VenuesLive and Delia Group to work on the campaign for the March launch. Our strategic media rollout saw us build the intrigue with a teaser announcement followed by a ‘bookings open’ release, before an official opening announcement. Select coverage included print features in Style Magazine, The Courier Mail, Gourmet Traveller and AFR Life & Leisure and online features with Broadsheet Brisbane, The Brisbane Times and The Weekend Edition – we even secured a live cross with Channel 9 News.
The launch party was a blast. Produced alongside event creatives State of Play, we proudly showcased Layla to more than 200 VIP Brisbane celebrities, athletes, industry and government officials, who were treated to the spectacle of Middle Eastern drummers, live food stations and stunning floral and art installations inspired by spice. Brisbane, your new favourite restaurant is launched.
